Prayers, please

My mom just called me. She had bloodwork and pulmonary tests done today. She also has Shingles. The covering MD just called her to say her WBCs are at 100,000 and that she has Leukemia. That's all he said to her except to say that if anything happens this weekend, to go to the ER. If not, to call her regular doctor on Monday to see what she wants to do...

We have no idea what kind it's supposed to be. We have no idea what the prognosis is. We don't know anything, yet.

We will be thinking of your mom and wishing her good news on Monday.
How can a doctor call and drop a bomb like that before the weekend with no real news??
That is an awful...

Well good grief, Tam. What kind of quack doctor is this? How insensitive and inconsiderate. I'm so sorry your mom is going through this and I hope it turns out to be better news than it's been made to seem.

Oh TAmi - I'm so sorry to hear this. And I HATE Friday phone calls like that. We found out about my Dad's brain tumor on a Friday and then had to wait all weekend long before we could get answers to the many questions we had - like I'm sure you all do.

((hugs)) and lots of lots of prayers for Mom and for your family during this scarey time.

I'm so sorry to hear this! What a crazy doctor...are they even sure it's leukemia (asking because I was once diagnosed with lymphoma by only bloodcounts because the docwas insane....turns out it wasn't cancer after all). Praying that you both get answers soon.

Tami, I have been away from the computer and am just now seeing this. I am so sorry to read this news. Your mom will be in my prayers. My FIL had leukemia so I know about this disease. There are so many new treatments coming for it, more all the time. I hope one of them is the magic bullet for your mom!
